Overview
This 2013 Hermann Hauser III is an exceptional example from one of the most important guitar-making families in history. This guitar is accompanied by its original Hauser certificate of authenticity, identifying it as the “Llobet Special Edition,” Guitar No. 726, built in Reisbach, Germany, with a manufacture year of 2013 and a finished date of 2014. The certificate is signed by Hermann Hauser III and dated January 30, 2014.
Built with a stunning bearclaw spruce top and some of the most beautiful Brazilian rosewood back and sides we have ever seen, this guitar has the visual presence one hopes for in a great Hauser.
Even more importantly, the sound matches the extraordinary character of the woods. There is a purity, refinement, and old-world elegance here that feels unmistakably connected to the Hauser tradition. For four generations, the Hauser family has had access not only to extraordinary materials, but also to a depth of knowledge and musical understanding that very few workshops in the world can claim.
Sound
This guitar has the qualities we love most in the best Hauser instruments: clarity, balance, tonal purity, and a beautifully singing treble register. The voice is focused and refined, but never sterile. There is warmth beneath the clarity, with a lyrical quality that gives the guitar real expressive depth.
The spruce top gives the sound an immediacy and transparency, while the Brazilian rosewood adds color, depth, and complexity. The basses are rich and grounded, the trebles are crystalline and vocal, and the entire instrument has that rare sense of polish and proportion that makes a great Hauser so special.
It is not simply a clean or elegant guitar. It has life, shimmer, and personality, with the kind of tonal sophistication only encountered in the very best Hauser guitars.
Playability
With a 646mm scale and 53mm nut width, this Hauser III feels comfortable, balanced, and very easy to settle into. The response is immediate and even, allowing the player to shape phrases naturally without feeling like the guitar needs to be forced.
It has the kind of refinement that rewards a sensitive touch, while still offering plenty of dynamic range and projection when opened up.
Aesthetics & Craftsmanship
The materials on this guitar are truly extraordinary. The bearclaw spruce top is striking, elegant, and full of character, while the Brazilian rosewood back and sides are among the finest we have seen, visually dramatic, beautifully figured, and perfectly suited to an instrument of this level.
The craftsmanship is exactly what one expects from Hermann Hauser III: precise, tasteful, and deeply refined. Nothing feels exaggerated. Everything is in service of balance, beauty, and sound.
This guitar is fitted with Scheller tuners and is in excellent condition. It also includes its original Hauser certificate of authenticity, bearing the Hauser seal and confirming the guitar as No. 726, “Llobet Special Edition.”
